Ayokunmi’s background and training started as a commercial litigation lawyer, and over her 14 years in law practice, she has had extensive experience conducting internal investigations and engaging with global regulators on business and regulatory issues. She also has significant experience in understanding risks of doing business in the international market and adapting policies and practices to properly conduct profitable business while respecting local customs and business environments. She currently leads the Legal, Risk & Compliance team of a leading downstream and midstream oil and gas company in Nigeria, covering legal, enterprise, regulatory and other risk and compliance areas in 4 countries. Her duties in this position includes engagement with regulators in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Ayokunmi’s area of expertise include: Contracts, Real Estate, LegalTech, Data protection, Fintech, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, M&A Due Diligence and Integration, Corporate Fraud, Securities Fraud, Risk Assessment, Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Internal Investigations, Bribery Act, FCPA, Law Enforcement, among others. She holds an LL.B and a B.L, from University of Lagos and the Nigerian Law School respectively. She also has certificates in Project Management Proficiency and CSCU certificate from the EU Council. She’s an award-winning Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries Association of Nigeria (ICSAN).
